Before getting to the good stuff, I feel it’s important to introduce myself. The name is Erik Lambert. I’ve worked with Sports Mockery for close to a year but before that have spent the past three writing for the NFL Mocks website at FanSided where our primary focus is everything NFL draft and off-season. Watching college prospects coming up to the pros has been my job for a long time.
That is why I feel qualified to execute the first Chicago Bears 2015 NFL mock draft of this calendar year. That and I’m a diehard fan, of course. Each slide will detail a round, the pick, and what that player will bring to the organization from a value standpoint.
So. Let it begin!
1st Round: Dante Fowler Jr (OLB, Florida)
The top two pass rushers the Bears have are both either injured or old. Jared Allen is pushing 33 while Willie Young is turning 30 and coming off an Achilles injury. This team needs a young difference-maker on the edge. Dante Fowler Jr. would bring so much to the table. His athleticism, burst off the snap and body type are ideal fits for the new 3-4 scheme under Vic Fangio. On top of that he has the power to set the edge against the run, making him as complete an outside linebacker as there is in this class.
