It’s often amazing how much one player from an NFL draft can change the fortunes of a team. Here are five who could do just that for the Chicago Bears.
#5 – Todd Gurley – RB – Georgia
Picture this. An offense that has Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, and Martellus Bennett suddenly getting a chance to play with Adrian Peterson in the backfield. Okay, maybe that’s a slight reach but it’s not far off. Todd Gurley features many of the same attributes of Peterson from the awesome power and vision to the breakaway speed once through the hole.
This is not meant as a slight to Matt Forte, who remains a Pro Bowl player but it’s important to remember he turns 29-years old this year. Adding a talent like Gurley would give the Bears the most terrifying backfield in the league and extend Forte’s life in the NFL considerably. His added ability as a power runner would also assist them in short yardage situations and help in finishing off more drives. Consider what Demarco Murray is doing for Dallas.
