The Daily Grind: 4-0 $weep Yesterday (8/21/14)

We swept the card yesterday at the Daily Grind, going a perfect 4-0.  Let’s take a look at a quick recap. Edwin Jackson got shelled again. The over was a winner by the 4th inning.  I’m not sure how he gets another start in a Cubs uniform.  Baltimore got to Hector Noesi in the 4th inning and held on to beat the White Sox 4-3.  Our 2 play of the days were easy wins.  The Angels beat up Clay Buchholz, but lost their ace, Richards, to a devastating knee injury. Lastly,  Jorge De La Rosa won at home, again.

Week 2 Breakdown

Cubs 2-1

White Sox 2-1

Play of the Day 3-1

Overall 7-3 +3.95 units

It is a travel day in MLB, so the card is light.  The White Sox have an off day and the Cubs are playing 1 and a half games.  Let’s dig in to today’s games.

Chicago Cubs (T.Wood) vs San Francisco Giants ( M. Bumgarner) -165

Travis Wood matches up against Madison Bumgarner in the night cap at Wrigley Field.  Wood has had a tough year, but has been throwing better lately.  Over his last 3 starts he has a 3.12 ERA.  He posts a 3.72 ERA at home.  Bumgarner typically throws the ball very well on the road.  He has a 1.72 ERA on the road and a 2.14 ERA post all star break.  Mike Dimuno is behind the plate tonight calling balls and strikes.  He calls games under the posted total 55% of the time.  It looks like weather may play a factor tonight with rain in the area and the wind blowing in.  Look for a big strike zone as they push to get this game in.  Play on this game is under 8 runs.

Play of the Day

Cleveland Indians (C. Kluber) vs Minnesota Twins (P. Hughes)

Phil Hughes and Corey Kluber match up in an afternoon game in Minnesota today.  Both pitchers have been red hot.  Kluber is 6-0 in his last 6 road starts with an ERA of 1.31.  Over his last 3 starts his ERA is 0.86.  Hughes has a 1.33 ERA over his last 3 starts and a 3.96 day game ERA.  Brian Knight is calling balls and strikes.  He calls under the posted total 52% of the time.  Play on this game is under 7 runs.

Final Card

Cubs/Giants Under 8

Indians/Twins Under 7
