C.J. Edwards, the Chicago Cubs top pitching prospect, recently returned to the mound after being out since April 20th with a shoulder injury.
It’s not a secret that the Cubs farm system is loaded with position players, but Edwards might be one of a very small number of pitchers in the Cubs minor league system that make it to the majors.
Edwards made his return to the bump for the AA Chicago Cubs affiliate Tennessee Smokies on August 2nd. Edwards pitched 3.1 innings, allowing four base runners while striking out five.
