Remember when Avisail Garcia tore his labrum, and was feared out for the year? Well, Garcia is back tonight for the Palehose, after a surprisingly quick 4 month recovery. When Garcia was injured on April 9th, it was generally assumed that Garcia would miss the rest of the season, however, it appears that Garcia went down early enough to come back for the final 6 weeks of the season. The White Sox currently stand at 58-64, and are 9.5 games behind the division leading Royals, so it may be too late for Garcia to sway the division race, but it’s good to get more experience down the stretch. The South-Side faithful are surely happy to see the man they call “Mini-Miggy” return to the lineup tonight against former ace, Mark Buehrle and the Toronto Blue Jays.
On the season, Garcia has a .267 batting average, 2 homeruns, and 4 RBI in 8 games of duty. To make room in the lineup, the White Sox have placed fellow outfielder, Moises Sierra on the 15-Day disabled list with a strained right oblique. Also notable, the Sox have designated LHP, Charlie Leesman for assignment. Righty Javy Guerra was placed on the bereavement list, and southpaw Eric Surkamp has been recalled from Charlotte.
