ALS Hits Former Chicago Bear

Former Chicago Bear Linebacker, Tim Shaw, announced today that he is battling with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

It has been a year since Shaw has been with an NFL team, but the 30-year-old announced he has ALS on the Tennessee Titans website.

“I’m Tim Shaw, ” he says in the video. “A year ago I was playing NFL football. I have recently been diagnosed with ALS, ” Shaw said in the video. “I am here today to stand up and fight with all of you against this disease. “I want to challenge the Tennessee Titans organization, coach James Franklin and the Penn State football team, and my Clarenceville (Mich.) community. Let’s do this.”

Shaw spent two years with the Bears, primarily as a special teams player. Shaw set a franchise record for the Bears when he recorded 30 tackles in 2009. While he has not been with the Bears for a while, just know Tim the whole Chicago and Bears community wish you nothing but the best in your fight against this disease.
